The Game
Starting Play Stance
The idea of the Hammer and Nail game is to make it tricky to play. So when it is time for your go, you must begin with your hammer down at your side and not resting on the log next to your nail or indeed on top of your nail. When ready, raise your hammer from down at your side and strike down in one continuous movement.
First To Embed
In this game, players take turns hitting their nail into the log. Starting with the hammer at waist level, players raise their hammer and try to strike their nail. They only get one chance before it's the next player's turn. If a nail gets knocked off alignment, players can correct it with a sideways strike on their next turn, but they can't hit downward in the same turn. The winner is whoever manages to completely embed their nail into the log first.
Last Nail Standing
A slight twist to the first to embed game but this time players choose an opponents nail to hit. The winner is the only player with their nail not fully embedded. It's time to see who your mates really are!
Roulette
Players firstly choose a numbered segment on the log in which to place their nail. Using our roulette app players spin the wheel to determine which number segment to strike. If a player spins their own number they can choose any of their opponents nails to strike. If a numbered segment contains no active player a turn is missed. The winner is the last player with their nail not fully embedded into the log.
Drinking & Wagers
Hammer and nail is a fantastic drinking game and incorporating a range of drinking forfeits raises the thrill of the game. Alternatively, why not consider placing a wager in the centre of the log for a winner takes all twist!
